Yeah, Beo summed it up for me pretty nicely. That topic I rage'd at was, I think - as again, I could barely make any damn sense of what everyone was trying to say, every single word was just random, senseless metagame terminology - laughing at the idea of someone using a certain pokemon with a certain moveset. Because HOW DARE THEY NOT PLAY THE "CORRECT WAY"/HOW THEY WANT TO/TO HAVE FUN. I just can't take this mentality anymore.
I've had several games' multiplayer experience near-ruined for me because of the STOP HAVING FUN attitude everyone has, and I'm getting goddamn tired of it. I can't play POKEMANZ with anyone because my team is "laughable". I can't play Rock Band with anyone because I didn't FLAWLESSLY FC every song on the damn disc my first time playing them. I can't play any FPS/shooter games with anyone because I don't know how to "play properly" by exploiting various bugs. I can't play any fighting games because I didn't spend every second with the game memorizing the most minute of pointless details. The list goes on, and thanks to that list I never play multiplayer anything anymore. Never battle in POKEMANZ, except with Dei, rarely (and if we do it's something to laugh at. TO HAVE FUN). The only time I play Rock Band with anyone is if siblings are over, or with Beo if he feels like it. I've given up on shooters as a genre at this point; the only fighting games I enjoy - Guilty Gear/BlazBlue - I play, again, with friends. Because they're in it for fun.
See, that, that's what I hate. If you like playing games competatively, fine. If you find that fun, fine. Just don't act like it's the "only" way to play.
EDIT: BOY SURE IS ANGSTY RANT IN THIS POST. >_>
